This project focuses on the design and development of a multifunctional, electrically powered prosthetic hand manufactured largely through 3D printing. The prototype uses a custom voice-command recognition system running on low-cost microcontrollers. Its flexible fingers, based on the Fin Ray mechanism, adapt to the shape of grasped objects; current sensors limit the force applied, while a contactless temperature sensor communicates temperature through an LED indicator. Testing shows that the prototype is functional and capable of handling a wide variety of objects, although further development is required before it can be used as an everyday prosthesis.

_ Master’s thesis by Moritz Bernhard Rank, developed at MediaLab as part of the Superheroes project.

_ Low-cost prototype manufactured primarily through 3D printing.

_ Performs cylindrical, spherical and lateral-pinch grasps using voice commands.
