An installation that offsets the electricity consumption of the MediaLab and Smart Cities chairs. Since its commissioning at the end of September 2020, the installation has been generating between 115 and 150 kWh per week. It is a starting point in the study of the behavior of the panels and the generation and optimization of energy, as well as the first step towards the energy autonomy of the University of Oviedo.
The panels generate continuous electrical energy during daylight hours and the direct current is converted into alternating current.
The first energy generated during the day is used to charge the battery. Once the battery is charged, the energy that continues to be generated is fed into the grid.
